How To Deal With Holland Being Below Sea Level

Stuart
Stuart is an accident prone Englishman who has been living in the Netherlands since 2001. Even his move to the country was an unintentional accident, the result of replying to a cryptic job advertisement he found one day in a local British magazine. Since then he has learned to love the Dutch (so much so that he married one of them) and now calls the country home. He started the blog Invading Holland in 2006 as a place to share his strange stories of language misunderstandings, cultural confusions and his own accident prone nature.

Ok expat boy, here an awkward question for you.
Why was the last flood in the Netherlands in 2003 (strangely caused by draught resulting in the dyke to dry out, loose weight and kind of float away https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kadebreuk_Wilnis_%282003%29) where the UK in 2016, oh where do I start https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_Kingdom_floods.
But better safe then sorry so check out http://www.overstroomik.nl/
I never said the UK was any better :) And I’m poking fun at myself and the over the top reaction rather than the Netherlands.
