The Koning’s Burger – A Meal Fit for a Dutch King
“Your highness. Now that you have been successfully crowned William-Alexander, King of The Netherlands how would you like the occasion to be remembered? Your face will already adorn our nations stamps and its currency but perhaps we should name a street in your honour… or an entire city maybe… Possibly we could erect a mighty statue which captures your majestic likeness or build a great structure of architectural marvel in your name to show your strength. How my lord? How would you like to be remembered?”
“With none of these things.”
“My lord?”
“I desire something truly fitting of a king. Something better than mere King’s Day celebrations or displays of power. I want something that the people will remember me for forever, for generations to come.”
“But how my lord?”
“This… this is how I wish to be remembered…”
“… The orange King’s Burger!”
And they’re already marked down!
Alison – I wonder how king William-Alexander feels about that.
Embarrassed to say I have already enjoyed one of these fine treats. Anyone truly Dutch at heart may know about Albert Heijn’s “Burger of the Month”, where they sell a burger each month that is cheaper than the other burgers. This appears to be April’s.
Um…please tell me the orange coating is panko crumbs and NOT dyed meat. (Actually, let’s not think about what could be in the meat to begin with.)
I also can’t help but remember when the Belgian burger chain Quick introduced the “Dark Vador” burger…with a black hamburger bun.
Come to think of it, orange burgers with black buns could become a new Halloween tradition. What say you, King Stu? :P
Is that what he thinks of his citizens…well that’s just great!
What? No pickle?
Cheers, ic
What color does it come out? (Excuse my mind for going there)
Does this mean that he’s the new Burger King?
(Sorry, couldn’t resist … )
Unexpected Traveller, that is the most hillarious thingI have ever heard, sounds like your mind works just like invader Stu
Did you see the ones that were supposed to be shaped like crowns, but instead looked like duck feet? I think they were also at AH. I almost bought some, just to say I’d eaten a duck foot burger, but the part about eating them was a bit off putting.
Made from handfed, 100% pure kings!
Nathalie in NL – Dare I ask how it tasted?
Barb the French Bean – Luckily it is bread crumbs but I would not put it past the Dutch to dye the meat orange. That Vadar burger looks scary and I don’t mean because it is strong with the dark side of the force.
VallyP – Or it’s what his citizens think of him.
iancochrane – It’s Dutch so maybe a carrot instead :p
Andrew S.x.y.z. – I’m not sure I want to know.
Unexpected Traveller – Someone had to :p
Allison – I wish I had seen those. That sounds even more funny.
Jan de Wit – Good one :)
