One Year of Blogging

One year of blogging

It’s time to get out the party hats, bake a cake and hire a clown. One year ago on the 14th of March I first put fingers to keyboard and created this blog. that’s one year of blogging already. When I started there were no cartoons and I had no idea what direction I was going to take it in. It has been a lot of fun developing a style over the last 12 months and it is very rewarding to know I have made a few people laugh along the way. Thank you everyone who has followed my mad ramblings and given their support. Welcome to any new readers as well.

Here are a few highlights from the blogs first year:

An Unexpected Beginning
The first ever post and the story of how I accidentally ended up living in The Netherlands.

Sex Sells
The first ever post with a cartoon and some details about the stranger side of Amsterdam.

Holland Reality Show
The truth about Holland’s biggest secret.

Don’t Fear the Mime
There are many strange sites to see when walking around Amsterdam and you don’t have to have visited a coffee shop first.

The Lift of Terror
The story of my evening trapped in a lift in an empty office.

The Long Way Home
Proof of how accident prone I can be; eight hours walking around lost with a broken ankle.

Undercover Englishman
The language barrier might only be small but it does not make it any easier to hide your identity as an expat.

Stuart

Stuart is an accident prone Englishman who has been living in the Netherlands since 2001. Even his move to the country was an unintentional accident, the result of replying to a cryptic job advertisement he found one day in a local British magazine. Since then he has learned to love the Dutch (so much so that he married one of them) and now calls the country home. He started the blog Invading Holland in 2006 as a place to share his strange stories of language misunderstandings, cultural confusions and his own accident prone nature.

    JaG – Thanks

  4. Tess says:

We’re still talking CPUs here aren’t we? *slightly confused… NOT* ;)
    ps… you started… :9

No witty remark from me this time, but simply: happy blogday! I quite enjoy reading your blog. I hope you keep on writing great stuff and I’ll be one of the first to buy a copy of your book, if and when it comes out…

Happy First Birth of your Blog Day!

    I love the new cartoons.

  7. Invader Stu says:

Tess – Even if I started it I don’t see you making any objections :p I’m just trying to bridge the gap between PC and Mac users and say can’t we all just get along.

Emiel Stöpler – One day I will do a book. People keep on putting the idea in my head :p

    Roxanne – Thanks

DayDaySite – Thanks. I’ll let them know.

  9. paavei says:

    Happy (belated) blog-day!
    En nog vele jaren! ;-)

  10. Tess says:

No objections your honour ;) The defence simply requests to exercise her right to cross-examine both CPUs to elaborate on a mutual understanding, ‘bridge the gap’ as you wish to call it. To show my willingness, I just submitted the highest rate on ‘DayDaySite’.

  11. Charlemagne says:

Happy birthday! Thanks for all the summaries, a whole lot more of good writing to read :D.

  12. Invader Stu says:

    hdrkid & paavei – Thanks

Tess – Now I’m the one who’s confused. Are we still really talking about CPUs or are you still using it as a meaning for something else? :p

Charlemagne – Thanks and you are welcome :)

  13. Tess says:

That, dear Stu, is a rhetorical question… Are you implying I talk double Dutch? ;)

  14. Invader Stu says:

You would be more qualified to talk double Dutch then me Tess ;)

  15. Tess says:

Outch… *not fair* I reckon after a few beers you would do just as well :9 Now…, if you will excuse me, I’ll be on my way to a private view [see blog], shall I say hi to London for you? :) I’ll take a rain check on our CPU matter… :)
